Academy Roofing & Sheet Metal has over 100 employees consisting of 11 office personnel, 5 field superintendents, 13 foremen, and 71 field technicians. Our team has dedicated project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field technicians committed to quality.

Brian Krumm, President
Brian is a graduate of Kirkwood College in construction technology with over 21 years of roofing experience. As president, his duties include managing 60 to 100 roofing employees, and administering all facets of daily production, as well as organizing and scheduling work to complete on or before deadlines.
Nick Parenza, Vice President
Nick graduated from the University of Iowa with a communications degree. He has 15 years of experience in the commercial construction field, including five years as a project manager. Nick’s responsibilities include overseeing sales, estimating, financial reporting and project management.
Rob Ferin, CFO
Rob has 35 years of financial management experience, 25 of those in the commercial construction accounting field. He is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all aspects of the company’s accounting, finance, human resource and insurance issues.
Dave Berns, Service Manager
Dave has over 28 years of experience in the commercial roofing industry. He has completed the 40 hour supervisor/contractor asbestos course and attended several OSHA safety courses. Dave’s responsibilities include managing, organizing and scheduling work for the maintenance department while maintaining safety, quality, workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Dick Belz, Safety Director
Dick is a AHERA certified asbestos inspector as well as a licensed asbestos supervisor in multiple states. He annually attends numerous OSHA safety courses and manufacturer seminars. Dick’s 40 years of experience in commercial roofing also includes installation, supervision, quality control as a registered roof observer (RRO), safety and roof inspections. Dick’s numerous certifications include but are not limited to: mobile crane operator/trainer, forklift operator/trainer, OSHA 10 & 30 hour authorized construction trainer, as well as NRCA certa torch applied roofing trainer.
Diane Parker, Director of Human Resources
This year will mark Diane’s 18th year with Academy Roofing & Sheet Metal Company. Her primary responsibilities as Director of Human Resources are administering payroll as well as monitoring all of Academy’s 401K, medical, dental and life insurance plans. In addition, Diane completes the interviewing and processing of new employees.
Kelli Stokka, Senior Accounting Specialist
Kelli has worked in the construction industry for 25 years and has worked at Academy Roofing for the past nine years. Her responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract and service billings.
Tim Boyles, Project Manager/Estimator
Tim graduated from DMACC with a diploma in Architectural Drafting. He has over 30 years experience in the commercial roofing industry with over 20 of those years at Academy Roofing. Tim’s responsibilities include estimating, project management and material ordering.
Shane Gray, Senior Estimator/Project Manager
Shane is a graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He has 18 years experience in commercial roofing, including six years as a roofing foreman, five of which were for Academy Roofing. Shane’s responsibilities include overseeing other “public bid” estimators and project managers, estimating, project management, material ordering and database maintenance.
Steve Richards, Project Manager/Estimator
Steve attended Iowa State University and then entered into the commercial roofing field. He has 17 years experience in commercial roofing, including nine years with Academy Roofing. Steve’s responsibilities include estimating, project management, material ordering and database maintenance.
Christine Brown, Receptionist
Christine has been with Academy Roofing since October 2006 and in the construction industry for over 17 years. Her responsibilities include project packet coordination, warehouse materials management, issuing certificates of insurance, greeting customers, answering phone calls and other clerical duties.
